Cameroon: Orange Money revises withdrawal fees for 2025

Orange Money Cameroon has updated its withdrawal fee structure for 2025, introducing two separate channels with different costs: standard withdrawals via the USSD code #150# and digitalized withdrawals through the Max It app or QR code.

Since July 2, 2025, withdrawals made via the Max It app or QR code are charged a flat rate of 1% for transactions of 5,000 F.CFA or more. This measure aims to encourage adoption of the mobile application, which also provides services such as payments, transfers, and balance inquiries. For example, a withdrawal of 100,000 F.CFA via Max It incurs a fee of 1,000 F.CFA, while a withdrawal of 250,000 F.CFA carries a fee of 2,500 F.CFA.

For standard withdrawals using the USSD code #150#, Orange maintains a tiered fee structure equivalent to approximately 1.5% of the withdrawn amount, plus a regulatory tax of 4 F.CFA that is remitted to the state. A withdrawal of 10,000 F.CFA costs 154 F.CFA, 100,000 F.CFA costs 1,504 F.CFA, and 200,000 F.CFA costs 3,004 F.CFA. For amounts above 267,000 F.CFA, the fee reaches a fixed 4,004 F.CFA, which applies up to the maximum permitted withdrawal of 500,000 F.CFA. Smaller transactions, up to 3,000 F.CFA, are subject to a minimum fee of 54 F.CFA.

Deposits remain free of charge, though a 4 F.CFA tax applies to every withdrawal, effective from January 1, 2025, and is remitted to tax authorities.

Orange Cameroon, with over 14 million customers, 6.5 million data users, and 5.5 million active Orange Money users, is focusing on promoting digital usage. By reducing fees through the Max It app, the operator, having reported revenue of 99.7 billion F.CFA in Q1 2025, aims to boost mobile app adoption and strengthen customer loyalty in a highly competitive market.
