Trump reverses and urges House Republicans to vote to release Epstein files

Donald Trump has dramatically changed course and is now urging House Republicans to vote in favor of releasing government files related to Jeffrey Epstein. In a post on his social media platform Truth Social on November 16, Trump wrote: “House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide,” reflecting a major reversal of his previous stance.

Trump characterised the push to declassify the documents as a “Democrat Hoax” orchestrated by “radical left lunatics,” claiming the issue has been used to distract from the Republican Party’s recent successes.

His reversal follows a growing bipartisan movement in the House to force the Justice Department to make all Epstein-related files public, including emails, internal investigations, and documents linked to his death.  Trump’s change of heart came even as he warned that some Republicans in Congress are being “used” by Democrats.

The decision comes amid a wider clash within his own party. Trump has pulled his support from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a longtime ally who has been vocal in her demand for full transparency.  His shift is seen by some critics as politically motivated, a reaction to intensive pressure as more lawmakers lean toward releasing the files before a vote.
