Togo and UNIDO sign partnership to drive industrial development

Togo has signed a new Country Partnership Program (CPP) with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), setting a coordinated framework for industrial transformation from 2026 to 2030. The agreement was finalized during UNIDO’s 21st General Conference in Riyadh, held from 23–27 November 2025.

The signing ceremony was attended by Togo’s Minister of Economy and Strategic Foresight, Badanam Patoki, and Minister Delegate for Investment Promotion, Arthur Lilas Trimua. The partnership is designed to align with Togo’s national development goals and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 9, which focuses on industry, innovation, and infrastructure.

The CPP will support improvements in industrial governance, technical capacity building, and sustainable energy initiatives. It also prioritizes environmental compliance and the development of agro-industrial value chains, an essential step in increasing local processing of agricultural products. A major focus of the program will be the expansion of the Agbélouvé industrial park.

UNIDO’s regional representative, Tidiane Boyé, said the program offers tailored support aligned with Togo’s priorities and forms part of its wider structural transformation agenda.

The Togolese government expects the partnership to attract new investment, modernize industrial systems, and strengthen the competitiveness of local manufacturing. Under the plan, Togo aims to accelerate key industrial projects, enhance investor confidence, and position itself as a regional hub for production and exports.
