The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has entered into a strategic partnership with Informa Markets aimed at strengthening and expanding the delivery of its major public health platforms, including the Conference on Public Health in Africa (CPHIA).
The collaboration was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Africa CDC and Informa Markets, a global company known for organising large-scale live and on-demand events, exhibitions and data-driven platforms across multiple industries. The agreement is designed to enhance the planning, execution and long-term sustainability of CPHIA, while also supporting other flagship Africa CDC convenings.
Africa CDC said the partnership will help elevate CPHIA as Africa’s premier public health conference by improving event design, operational efficiency, audience reach and global visibility. Since its launch, CPHIA has grown into a key forum for policymakers, scientists, health professionals, development partners and the private sector to shape Africa’s public health agenda, share research and coordinate responses to emerging and existing health threats.

Under the agreement, Informa Markets will bring its global expertise in event management, digital engagement, sponsorship development and data services to support Africa CDC’s objectives. This includes expanding participation, attracting strategic partners and exhibitors, and integrating more robust digital and hybrid components to reach wider audiences across the continent and beyond.
Africa CDC officials said the partnership aligns with the institution’s broader mandate to strengthen public health systems, promote collaboration and drive innovation in disease prevention, preparedness and response. By improving the scale and quality of its flagship events, Africa CDC aims to deepen knowledge exchange, mobilise resources and foster stronger public-private partnerships in health.
Informa Markets, for its part, described the collaboration as an opportunity to contribute to Africa’s health security and development goals by supporting platforms that convene decision-makers and practitioners at continental and global levels. The company noted that well-structured, sustainable events play a critical role in shaping policy dialogue, accelerating innovation and building resilient health ecosystems.

The partnership comes at a time when Africa is intensifying efforts to strengthen health sovereignty, local manufacturing, workforce capacity and coordinated responses to public health emergencies. Africa CDC said scaling CPHIA and similar platforms will be central to advancing these priorities and ensuring consistent, high-impact engagement among stakeholders.
