Facebook will take centre stage at the 2026 African Creators Summit in Lagos on Thursday, offering creators hands-on experiences designed to support audience growth, monetisation, and community engagement across the continent’s expanding digital economy.
The summit, held at the Federal Palace Hotel, brings together creators, storytellers, innovators, and digital entrepreneurs. This year’s theme, “Building a Sustainable Ecosystem Where Africa Trades Its Swag”, aligns with Facebook’s push to equip creators with tools that foster discovery, engagement, and revenue generation.
Oluwasola Obagbemi, Facebook’s Head of Communications for Sub-Saharan Africa, said the company is committed to empowering creators where they are active so they can succeed while sharing original content.
“We are excited to showcase the opportunities Facebook offers to reach a massive global audience, connect more deeply with real people, and earn real money across all content formats,” Obagbemi said.
The summit will feature a Facebook-themed booth with interactive experiences highlighting community building, authentic connection, and the power of relationships. Attendees, including creators, young adults, and Nigerian celebrities, will have the opportunity to collaborate, network, and engage with the platform’s latest features.
Oladapo Adewunmi, convener of the African Creators Summit, described creators as “the teachers and architects of modern culture,” whose work shapes trends, ideas, and cultural norms.
“The African Creators Summit was introduced to bridge creators, businesses, platforms, policymakers, and partners across Africa. Facebook’s continued support reflects a belief in creators, their stories, their businesses, and their power to drive global impact from Africa,” Adewunmi said.
Over the years, Facebook has expanded its offerings to creators, providing tools and experiences across Groups, Video, and Marketplace. The summit positions itself as a platform not only for networking and learning but also as a catalyst for a diverse, inclusive, and future-focused Pan-African creative ecosystem.
The event underscores Facebook’s role in fostering economic growth and cultural influence by supporting creators, who increasingly serve as drivers of both digital innovation and content-driven commerce across Africa.
By combining educational sessions, immersive demos, and networking opportunities, Facebook aims to demonstrate how the platform can help creators maximise reach, engagement, and monetisation while cultivating authentic connections with audiences locally and globally.
Through its participation in the summit, Facebook reinforces its strategy of positioning creators at the centre of Africa’s digital economy, recognising their potential to generate content, influence culture, and expand commercial opportunities on the continent.
