U.S. Exchange Alumni Uganda and communications firm Node Group have signed a strategic public relations partnership aimed at promoting innovation, civic engagement and youth-led initiatives, the organisations said.
The agreement seeks to strengthen the visibility and impact of programmes led by U.S. Exchange Alumni, a network of Uganda who have participated in U.S. government-sponsored exchange programmes and are engaged in community development, leadership and policy advocacy.
Under the partnership, Node Group will provide strategic communications support, including media relations, digital storytelling and brand positioning, to amplify alumni-led projects focused on entrepreneurship, governance, education and social innovation.
“This partnership is about telling impactful stories and ensuring that innovative ideas reach the right audiences,” said a representative of U.S. Exchange Alumni Uganda. “Our members are driving change at the grassroots and national levels, and effective communication is critical to scaling that impact.”
Node Group said the collaboration aligns with its focus on using strategic communication to support development-oriented initiatives and strengthen civic participation.
“We see this as more than a PR engagement,” a Node Group executive said. “It is a partnership to help build trust, encourage citizen engagement and support innovation ecosystems that can deliver tangible social and economic outcomes.”
U.S. Exchange Alumni networks across Africa have increasingly positioned themselves as platforms for skills transfer, policy dialogue and entrepreneurship, leveraging alumni experience gained through programmes such as the Mandela Washington Fellowship and the International Visitor Leadership Program.
In Uganda, alumni groups have been active in youth empowerment, election-related civic education and start-up mentorship, often working with civil society organisations, government agencies and the private sector.
Analysts say strategic communications partnerships are becoming more important for civic and innovation-focused organisations as competition for public attention and funding intensifies, particularly in digital spaces.
The partners said the agreement will also focus on promoting data-driven campaigns, thought leadership and stakeholder engagement, with the goal of strengthening public discourse around innovation and governance.
No financial details of the partnership were disclosed.
The collaboration is expected to roll out in phases in 2026, beginning with joint campaigns highlighting alumni-led innovation projects and civic initiatives across the country.
