Kenya’s largest telecommunications company, Safaricom, has announced its internship and attachment opportunities for the 2026/2027 financial year, inviting both recent graduates and current university students to apply across a range of professional disciplines.
The telco disclosed the programmes on its official website and through social media channels, outlining a structured intake process designed to offer practical experience and career development in multiple fields.
Safaricom’s six-month internship programme targets recent graduates who obtained their bachelor’s degree within the last 12 months, as well as students awaiting graduation. Intakes are scheduled for April and October 2026. In parallel, the three-month attachment programme is open to ongoing students, with intakes planned for April, July, October 2026, and January 2027.

The company encouraged applicants from diverse disciplines, including human resources, finance, public relations, communications, supply chain, legal, marketing, audit, enterprise risk, cyber security, and technology.
“We are inviting bold, curious, and driven young talent to join our 2026/27 annual internship programme across HR, legal, finance, supply chain, marketing, audit, PR & communications, enterprise risk, cyber security, and technology – an opportunity to learn, contribute, and shape what is next from day one,” the company said in its announcement.
Simon Ingari, Safaricom’s career development associate, emphasised the importance of maintaining a professional online presence, noting that many opportunities now rely on digital profiles and visibility. “Job seekers who showcase their skills, interests, and achievements online are more likely to stand out in competitive recruitment processes,” he said.
Eligibility requirements for applicants include enrollment in a bachelor’s degree programme at an undergraduate institution in their third, fourth, or fifth year of study, or possession of a bachelor’s degree obtained within the last 12 months. Candidates must be accessible full-time for the duration of the chosen programme, which cannot be extended, and may apply for only one intake per calendar year. Safaricom further encouraged applicants to demonstrate curiosity, commitment, and a readiness to learn.

The programmes offer participants exposure to practical business operations in a leading telecommunications environment, enabling them to apply academic knowledge while gaining hands-on experience in their chosen field. Graduates and students will engage in projects, cross-functional collaboration, and mentorship opportunities designed to enhance professional skills and employability.
Safaricom, which dominates Kenya’s mobile telecommunications market, has in recent years invested heavily in human capital development, particularly in technology, digital services, and enterprise solutions. The internship and attachment initiatives reflect the company’s strategy to cultivate homegrown talent and equip young professionals with the skills needed in a rapidly evolving digital economy.
Past participants have reported that the programmes provide a valuable platform to network with industry leaders, understand corporate workflows, and gain insights into career pathways within the ICT sector. Safaricom’s initiatives also support national goals of youth employment and skills development, complementing government policies on education, innovation, and workforce readiness.

Applications for the 2026/2027 internships and attachments are submitted through Safaricom’s recruitment portal, with selection processes involving online applications, interviews, and assessment exercises. The company urged interested candidates to adhere to the application guidelines and meet deadlines to ensure consideration.
By opening its doors to graduates and students, Safaricom aims to nurture a generation of professionals equipped to meet the demands of Kenya’s dynamic telecommunications and technology sectors, while fostering innovation, creativity, and leadership among young talent.
The initiative underscores Safaricom’s broader commitment to corporate social responsibility, human capital development, and national economic growth, ensuring that young Kenyans have opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the country’s digital and industrial transformation.
