Burkina Faso has launched an online travel declaration system as part of efforts to tighten border security and modernise public services, authorities said.
Security Minister Mahamadou Sana unveiled the digital platform on April 8, allowing travellers to complete entry and exit forms up to 72 hours before departure.
The system, accessible online, is designed to streamline procedures at border points, reduce queues and improve processing times, particularly at Ouagadougou International Airport.
Officials say the initiative goes beyond administrative simplification, marking a shift toward more centralised and data-driven migration management.
Security services will now have access to real-time, consolidated traveller information, enabling improved monitoring of movements and stronger analytical capabilities.

The platform forms part of a broader government strategy to digitise public administration and improve service delivery.
In February, officials announced plans to roll out 272 digital public service platforms, with 146 already operational, aimed at expanding access to administrative services for citizens and businesses.
