Brazil condemns US actions in Venezuela, calls move ‘unacceptable’

Brazil has criticised the United States for what it describes as crossing an “unacceptable line” in its military operations in Venezuela, following reports of US strikes and the capture of President Nicolás Maduro. Brazilian officials have been closely monitoring activity along the border and coordinating with regional partners to assess potential security and humanitarian impacts.

In a statement, Brazil’s government reaffirmed its commitment to respecting the sovereignty of neighbouring nations and called for a peaceful resolution to the crisis. Officials urged Washington to avoid unilateral actions that could escalate tensions and destabilise the wider Latin American region.

The intervention has sparked international concern, with multiple countries warning that bypassing multilateral processes and ignoring regional diplomatic frameworks risks long-term instability. Brazil emphasised that any political transition in Venezuela should occur through lawful and internationally recognised channels rather than military intervention.

As events unfold, regional governments are evaluating border security measures and potential humanitarian responses while pushing for urgent discussions at international forums, including the United Nations.
