Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a message of congratulations to Mamady Doumbouya following his election as president of Guinea, Chinese state media reported on Sunday.
In his message, Xi said Guinea was the first sub-Saharan African country to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China and highlighted the long-standing ties between the two countries.
He said China and Guinea have upheld principles of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, supported each other on issues of core national interest and pursued cooperation aimed at shared development.
Xi said he attached great importance to the relationship and was ready to work with Doumbouya to further develop what he described as a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
He added that closer ties would contribute to improving the well-being of both peoples and strengthening solidarity among countries in the Global South.
