The Ghana Russia Center for Commerce and Relations has formalized cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tatarstan in Kazan, marking the first such partnership between a Ghanaian organization and the Russian republic’s business chamber.
The Ghanaian delegation was led by CEO John Aggrey and Head of Business Development Ziona Ayorkor Holm, while Tatarstan’s SEZ Alabuga was represented by Deputy Project Leader Konstantin Trifonov and Leading Specialist Chulpan Islamova. Chamber President Shamil Ageev expressed enthusiasm for collaboration, highlighting the potential for trade expansion, investment opportunities, technology transfer, and knowledge exchange between the two regions.
Ghana brings abundant gold deposits, strong cocoa production, and a rapidly growing technology sector, while Tatarstan contributes expertise in oil refining, automobile manufacturing, and software development. Aggrey emphasized Ghana’s favorable business climate and readiness to deepen economic ties, citing support from the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry and the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre.

The partnership builds on the Ghana Russia Center’s previous collaborations, including agreements with Synergy University (2024) and Ukhta State Technical University (2025), as well as organizing West Africa’s first international business Cats Olympiad with SEZ Alabuga in July 2025. The Center’s “Work in Russia, Grow in Ghana” program, launched in 2025, aims to create employment for Ghanaians in Russia while encouraging Russian investment in Ghana, fostering skills transfer and economic development.
Tatarstan continues to expand trade relationships with African nations through structured institutional frameworks, participating in forums such as the Russia Africa Partnership Forum in Cairo in December 2025. By combining Ghana’s natural resources and emerging tech ecosystem with Tatarstan’s industrial capabilities, the partnership sets a model for cross-continental collaboration and strengthens economic ties between Africa and Russia, even amid global geopolitical shifts.
