Luma releases AI model that generates video from a start and end frame

Luma AI has unveiled a new artificial intelligence model that allows users to generate full video sequences by providing just a start frame and an end frame, the company announced on Thursday. The model is integrated into Luma’s Dream Machine platform, which offers a suite of AI‑driven creative tools designed for filmmakers, visual content creators and digital artists.

According to Luma, the technology uses advanced generative modeling techniques to interpolate motion, lighting and scene continuity between a given pair of frames, effectively “bridging” them with realistic video content. This approach can dramatically reduce the time and effort required to produce dynamic sequences, potentially transforming workflows in animation, film pre‑visualization and digital content creation.

Dream Machine users are already experimenting with the new model to create short animations, transitions between camera angles and experimental visual effects. Luma says the model supports high resolution output and can adapt to a variety of visual styles, based on the input frames and optional user parameters that influence motion pacing and scene interpretation.

Industry analysts note that this capability represents a growing trend in generative video tools, where AI systems increasingly handle large portions of creative workflows that once required complex manual key‑framing and editing. Competitors in the space, including startups and major tech firms, are similarly racing to develop models that can generate or extend video content from minimal input.

Luma has positioned the Dream Machine platform as part of a broader shift toward AI‑assisted content production, where creators can leverage machine intelligence to prototype ideas rapidly and explore narrative possibilities without deep technical expertise.

The company has not disclosed pricing details for the new model but says it will be available to Dream Machine subscribers and enterprise users in early 2026, with broader rollout plans to follow as the technology matures and performance is optimized.
