German startup Mirelo has secured US$41 million in a seed funding round led by Index Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) to advance its AI technology that automatically adds synchronized sound effects to videos.
The platform addresses a common challenge in digital content creation: videos often lack immersive, contextually accurate audio, which can diminish viewer engagement. Mirelo’s AI analyzes video footage and generates matching soundscapes, from footsteps and ambient noise to object interactions, creating a more lifelike and engaging experience.

The funding will support technology development, scaling the team, and expanding commercial partnerships with content creators, media companies, and video platforms. With the rise of short-form content and AI-generated media, the startup aims to become a standard tool for creators seeking high-quality, automated audio integration.
Investors highlight Mirelo’s potential to transform digital video production by reducing manual audio editing workloads and accelerating content turnaround.
