Morocco crowned ‘Destination of the Year’ at Brussels Travel Awards

Morocco has been named “Destination of the Year” at the 2025 Travel Awards held over the weekend in Brussels, further cementing its rise as one of the world’s fastest growing tourism hotspots.

The gala, staged at Skyhall in Brussels Airport, drew around 1,000 travel industry professionals and announced 36 winners across multiple categories.

Morocco’s recognition comes as the kingdom strengthens its global tourism profile, praised for its cultural heritage, varied landscapes and improving visitor infrastructure. The country recently ranked 13th worldwide in the latest UN Tourism index.

Tourist arrivals have continued to surge. Morocco welcomed 17.4 million visitors in 2024, and 16.6 million by October this year a 14% jump compared with the same period in 2024.

The kingdom is expected to hit at least 18 million tourists by the end of 2025, with some forecasts suggesting the figure could reach 20 million as Morocco prepares to host the Africa Cup of Nations.

The tournament, set for 21st December to 18th January, is expected to draw tens of thousands of fans from across the continent and Europe, boosting air travel and hotel bookings.
