Namibia: Tourist arrivals jump 45.5% in 2024, nearing pre-pandemic levels

Namibia’s tourism sector posted a strong rebound in 2024, with international arrivals rising to 1,257,093, according to the newly released Tourist Statistical Report from the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT).

The report, unveiled by Minister Indileni Daniel, shows a 45.5% surge in arrivals compared to the previous year, bringing the industry close to pre-pandemic performance levels. Officials say the rebound is driven by improved global travel confidence, targeted marketing campaigns, and Namibia’s continued appeal as a safe, nature-focused destination.

The ministry expects further growth in 2025 as airlines expand regional and international routes and tourism operators scale up offerings. Industry stakeholders argue that sustained investment in conservation, hospitality infrastructure, and digital marketing will be key to retaining momentum.
