The Zambian Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development has announced revised toll fees for selected vehicle classes, effective 1 January 2026, as part of revenue measures outlined in the 2026 National Budget.
The adjustments, set out under Statutory Instruments No. 100, 101, and 102 of 2025 and published in the Government Gazette, will apply at all toll gates managed by the National Road Fund Agency (NRFA), including the three toll gates on the Lusaka–Ndola Road operated under concession by MOIC-LN Consortium Limited.
The revisions specifically target medium heavy vehicles, heavy vehicles, and abnormal load vehicles. Tolls for small vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tonnes including cars, vans, and minibuses with up to 16 seats will remain at K20 per passage.
Light vehicles with two axles, including minibuses weighing 3.5–6.5 tonnes and carrying 17–30 passengers, will continue to pay K40, while buses with over 30 seats will still be charged K50 per passage.
Under the new tariff structure:
- Medium heavy vehicles weighing over 6.5 tonnes with two to four axles will pay K200 per passage.
- Heavy vehicles with four or more axles will be charged K300.
- Abnormal load vehicles will attract a fee of K3,000.
Different rates apply at the Michael Chilufya Sata Toll Gate on the Ndola–Kitwe dual carriageway:
- Medium heavy vehicles: K400
- Heavy vehicles: K600
- Abnormal loads: K1,000
The NRFA has advised motorists to familiarise themselves with the updated toll structure ahead of implementation and encouraged road users to contact its public relations unit for further information.
