Emirates increases Ghana operations with four additional weekly Accra-Dubai flights

Emirates has announced an expansion of its operations in Ghana with the introduction of four additional weekly flights between Dubai and Accra, responding to growing demand for air travel and strengthening connections between Ghana and global markets.

The new services will begin on July 12, 2026, and will complement the airline’s existing daily flights between the two cities.

The expansion means Emirates will operate 11 weekly flights to Ghana using its widebody Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, increasing capacity for passengers and cargo movements between Accra and Dubai.

Emirates said the additional flights reflect sustained growth in demand for travel to and from Ghana, with Accra recording strong passenger traffic and high seat occupancy throughout the year.

The new schedule has been designed to provide travellers with improved connections through Dubai to major commercial and tourism destinations, including Beijing, Seoul, Sydney, Perth, Mumbai, Singapore, New York and Jeddah.

Passengers travelling from markets such as Delhi, Boston, Los Angeles, Germany and the United Kingdom will also have additional options for connecting to Ghana through Emirates’ Dubai hub.

Emirates’ Country Manager for Ghana, Salem Almana, said the expansion demonstrates the airline’s confidence in the Ghanaian market and its commitment to meeting the country’s growing aviation needs.

He said the increased services would support stronger business, tourism and trade links between Ghana and destinations across Emirates’ global network.

The airline’s expanded operations are expected to provide more opportunities for international visitors to access Ghana while enabling Ghanaian travellers and businesses to connect more easily with global markets.

Through Dubai, Emirates provides access to nearly 140 destinations worldwide, creating additional links for tourism, commerce and investment.

Beyond passenger travel, the new services will also support cargo operations through Emirates SkyCargo, helping facilitate the movement of goods from Accra to Dubai and onward international destinations.

The additional capacity comes as Ghana continues efforts to position its aviation sector as a driver of economic growth, tourism development and international connectivity.

The expansion also highlights the growing importance of Accra as a regional travel hub in West Africa, with airlines increasing capacity to meet rising demand from business travellers, tourists and the Ghanaian diaspora.

Aviation industry analysts say increased flight frequencies can contribute to trade growth by improving access for exporters, importers and businesses seeking stronger links with international markets.

The move by Emirates follows broader growth in air connectivity across Africa, where airlines are expanding routes to serve rising demand as travel activity continues to recover and grow.

With the additional flights, Emirates is expected to further strengthen its role in connecting Ghana to key markets across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America.
