Once seen as trailing far behind Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, Google’s cloud division has staged a significant comeback, driven largely by rapid advances in its AI ecosystem, particularly its Gemini models. These figures reflect not just growth, but sustained demand from businesses building AI-driven applications on Google’s infrastructure. AI customers, the company says, tend to use nearly twice as many of its products compared to non-AI users, reinforcing the idea that artificial intelligence is becoming the central engine of its cloud strategy.
But growth alone is not enough to secure long-term leadership.
Google’s challenge now is less about catching up and more about staying relevant in a rapidly evolving AI landscape.
