Morocco will host a major international automotive industry event in June, underscoring its growing role as a regional manufacturing hub, organizers said.
The eighth edition of the International Automotive Industrial Competitiveness Show (SCIA 2026) will take place from June 24 to 26 in Kenitra, bringing together industry players from across Europe and Africa.
The event is being organized by the Moroccan Association for the Automotive Industry and Construction in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development.
Around 300 international exhibitors are expected to participate, reflecting rising global interest in Morocco’s automotive sector, which has become one of the country’s leading export industries.
Organizers said the choice of Kenitra highlights its emergence as a key industrial hub within Morocco’s automotive ecosystem, supporting the country’s ambition to position itself as a leading manufacturing base in the region.
SCIA President Badr Lahmoudi said the sector is undergoing a strategic shift, moving beyond a subcontracting model toward a more competitive framework focused on innovation, energy efficiency and higher value-added production.
He said the event aims to strengthen industrial ecosystems, deepen collaboration between stakeholders and attract further investment into the sector.
Rachid Machou said the gathering would provide a platform to boost competitiveness and reinforce partnerships across the automotive value chain, including through the development of local subcontracting and increased supplier integration.
The programme will include business-to-business meetings between manufacturers and suppliers, as well as conferences, innovation showcases and technical discussions.
Organizers said the event is also expected to enhance the appeal of industrial zones such as the Atlantic Free Zone, which plays a central role in Morocco’s export-oriented manufacturing strategy.
SCIA 2026 forms part of a broader industrial push led by Mohammed VI to build a competitive, innovation-driven economy with stronger local integration and higher industrial value.
The event aligns with Morocco’s New Development Model, which places industry at the centre of economic transformation and job creation, while promoting greater economic sovereignty.
Participants are also expected to address major global shifts in the automotive industry, including the transition to sustainable mobility, the expansion of electric vehicles and the growing use of artificial intelligence in manufacturing processes.
With companies from countries including France, Italy and Germany set to attend, organizers say the event aims to position SCIA as a leading platform for Africa’s automotive industry.
