Oman and Algeria have signed several economic agreements and memoranda of understanding aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and investment cooperation across key sectors, including logistics, food, fisheries, manufacturing and construction materials.
The agreements were signed during Oman’s participation in the 57th Algiers International Fair, with officials from Oman and Algerian companies taking part in the ceremony.
Oman’s Ambassador to Algeria Saif bin Nasser Al-Badai attended the signing alongside representatives from Oman Exports.
The deals are part of Oman’s broader strategy under Oman Vision 2040 to reduce reliance on oil revenues, increase non-oil exports and expand the country’s presence in international markets.
A delegation of 20 Omani companies showcased products and services at the fair, representing industries ranging from iron, agriculture and fertilisers to commercial vehicles, pharmaceuticals, perfumes, frankincense and traditional handicrafts.
The exhibition provided a platform for businesses from both countries to establish new partnerships, explore investment opportunities and strengthen commercial exchanges.
Oman’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion said the participation was aimed at creating new trade channels and increasing the visibility of Omani products across African markets.
The agreements come as Gulf countries seek to deepen economic engagement with African economies through trade, investment and industrial partnerships.
Both Oman and Algeria have been working to diversify their economies by promoting private sector growth, expanding exports and attracting foreign investment beyond traditional energy sectors.
